2022 Pokémon GO World Championships Player Information

The 2022 Pokémon GO World Championships will begin on Friday, August 19, 2022, for all age divisions. Players must be in good standing with the Play! Pokémon program to participate, and they must have an active Play! Pokémon account with current and accurate information.

Pokémon GO players may qualify through competitions in the 2022 Championship Series season. Players earn invitations to this prestigious event by performing at an exceptional level during the Championship Series season.

Competition Format

This competition will use the Pokémon GO Great League format.

Players must comply with the Tournament Rules and possess the following.

  • A team of tournament-legal Pokémon in their Pokémon GO account. (See the Tournament Rules and check back regularly before the event for updated rules.)

  • Proof of age may be requested. Failure to provide proof of age may result in the Trainer being denied participation in the tournament, at the organizer's discretion.

Competition Details

Players will compete in age-separated double-elimination brackets beginning on Friday, August 19, using the Great League format in Pokémon GO.

Players will compete on Samsung Galaxy A52 devices provided by the organizer. Other devices may be provided at the organizer's discretion. Players will be expected to log in and log out during the tournament. It is a player's responsibility to log out of the provided device during the tournament and to ensure their personal device is available and charged if utilizing two factor authentication.

On Saturday, August 20, additional rounds will be played until a Champion is determined. More details will be released at a later time.

If the Senior Division does not exceed 32 players, the Senior tournament will start and finish on Friday (except for the Grand Finals match, which will be held on Saturday). Brackets will not be age-separated if fewer than four Senior Division players enter.

Event structure and timing are subject to change.
