Pokémon Is Fun for Everyone!

Pokémon originated in Japan with the release of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green for the Game Boy in 1996. Two years later, Pokémon arrived in North America with the release of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue and the debut of the animated series.

Since then, the brand has grown to include a trading card game, feature films, books, live tournaments, merchandise, and more! As Pokémon continues to grow, The Pokémon Company International (TPCi) remains committed to delighting fans of all ages through excellent products and meaningful experiences in a safe environment.

What Are Pokémon?

Ask a child what their favorite Pokémon is, and you’re bound to get an enthusiastic response. There are hundreds of Pokémon for you and your child to discover together, ranging from big to small, cute to fierce, and everything in between, so everyone is sure to find one to bond with. In the world of Pokémon, Pokémon Trainers form lasting friendships with their Pokémon partners. As a team, they go on adventures, train to improve their skills, and battle in friendly competitions. You can learn more about the many different Pokémon in the Pokédex on the official Pokémon website.

Pokémon Trading Card Game

Debuting shortly after the release of the original Pokémon video games, the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) has been loved by fans of all ages for decades. Some collect the cards to appreciate the beautiful artwork of their favorite Pokémon characters while others build decks to enjoy the deep, strategic gameplay. Players can even compete against each other at official Play! Pokémon events that range from casual Pokémon League gatherings to the annual Pokémon World Championships.

Over the years, there have been many different types of Pokémon video games that can be enjoyed by players of all ages, from preschoolers to older fans (although the games are always family friendly).
