Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet

The Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games, developed by GAME FREAK, are the newest chapters in the Pokémon RPG series for the Nintendo Switch system. In these games, the Pokémon series takes a new evolutionary step, allowing you to explore freely in a richly expressed open world.

The various towns of the Paldea region blend seamlessly into the wilderness with no borders. You’ll be able to see the Pokémon of this region in the skies, in the seas, in the forests, on the streets—all over! You’ll experience the true joy of the Pokémon series—battling against wild Pokémon in order to catch them—now in an open-world game that players of any age can enjoy.

Of course, setting off on a new adventure in a large, open world can feel overwhelming, but our Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet Trainer’s Guide is filled with tips and strategies to help you on your journey.

Meet New Pokémon

There are three Pokémon from which you’ll be able to choose your first partner. There’s Sprigatito, the Grass Cat Pokémon; Fuecoco, the Fire Croc Pokémon; and Quaxly, the Duckling Pokémon. How will you meet these three, and what sorts of Pokémon are they?

Depending on which version you play, you’ll also encounter the Legendary Pokémon Koraidon or Miraidon, who will join you on your journey. These mysterious Pokémon are capable of changing their forms to help them traverse over different terrain!

Make Your Own Story

At Naranja Academy and Uva Academy, you can meet new people, new Pokémon, and a new you. When you enroll in one of these academies, you’ll embark on your own adventure that unfolds the way you want it to. Battle against Gym Leaders as you plot your path along Victory Road, join the upperclassman Arven in search of rare ingredients on the Path of Legends, and challenge the group of delinquents known as Team Star in ★ Starfall Street ★.

These three stories are set in an open world, so where you go is all up to you!

The Terastal Phenomenon

In the Paldea region, you’ll discover a phenomenon that makes Pokémon shine and glimmer like gems. When a Pokémon Terastallizes, a Tera Jewel appears above the Pokémon’s head like a crown, and the Pokémon’s body glistens like a cut gemstone.

All Pokémon in the Paldea region are able to Terastallize to gain special power, and Terastallizing activates a Pokémon’s Tera Type, which can change the Pokémon’s type. Use the special transformation to enhance your battle strategies by increasing the power of any moves that have the same type as your Pokémon’s Tera Type or by changing your Pokémon’s weaknesses.

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero

Expand your Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet journey with The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC. This two-part expansion features new areas to explore, new friends and rivals, new Pokémon, and the return of familiar Pokémon that had not appeared in Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet. In Part 1: The Teal Mask, you step out of the Paldea region to take a school trip to the land of Kitakami, where you’ll unravel the mysteries behind the area’s folktales. In Part 2: The Indigo Disk, you become an exchange student and travel to Blueberry Academy, an unusual school that’s mostly located under the ocean. Their curriculum places a strong emphasis on Pokémon battling, so make sure your team is ready for the challenge!
